Case study
Zimbardo’s 1971 SPE ran the pipeline cleanly to meme — textbooks, films, public-intellectual platform. 2018 Ben Blum reporting and Le Texier’s 2018/2019 archival work showed Zimbardo coached guards and the famous prisoner breakdown was performed; consensus within social psychology accepted the methodological critique. The corrective passed measurement, analysis, and consensus — and died at curation. Textbooks still teach SPE; pop psychology still cites it; films are not being re-cut. The book’s worked example of corrective signal failing at curation even when consensus has ratified it.
