Concept

When barriers to creation fall, the cost of quality assessment doesn’t disappear — it transfers from producers (who used to bear it as the price of being published at all) onto consumers, reviewers, and maintainers, who have no more time than before and no ledger entry for the cost. The structural move that lets the platform political economy stay invisible: the platform claims credit for democratizing access while the actual access-to-quality collapses, because the cost landed on someone with no balance sheet to absorb it.
