Concept
Four cognitive failure modes of deep specialization without paired metacognitive flexibility: paradigm lock-in (can’t entertain other frames), overconfidence in cross-application (over-extends mastery), perceptual filtering (screens out information that doesn’t fit), conceptual rigidity (can’t reframe a problem). Together these are the cognitive substrate of polarization-via-distrust — same mechanism, vocabulary at the individual level instead of the network level.
