Open question

The book’s diagnostic vocabulary (true / false / corrective / manufactured) was built for objective claims, where the pipeline transmits-or-distorts a fact it cannot touch. Intersubjective truths (currencies, nations, laws, brands) are generated by network agreement, not by reality — the pipeline partly constitutes them. Ch 2 names the distinction and promises a fuller working-through; 5c and Ch 9 carry explicit scope debts against it; the outline lists pull-ins for 5b/8/10/11. But the book has no worked machinery for constitution: no regime model, no account of constitutive capture, no corrective analog for content with no external check.

Where the book lands. Worked out in intersubjective-truth.md. Intersubjective truths are truths (Harari’s terms kept) whose generator is the network’s agreement rather than reality, carved per-claim, not per-artifact — a myth can be based in reality too. The pipeline is wired into the generator: transmission is participation in constitution, reach changes the truth itself, and no unharmed fact waits outside a bad transit. The transmission regimes translate to convergent / divergent / hollow constitution (failure axis: spread-and-substance, not error); capture becomes steering the generator — re-weighting whose decodes count — camouflaged by reification; the corrective’s role passes to the fork (schism, secession, dollarization, chain split), which determines how many truths there are rather than who was right; and the transport collapse cuts twice — its second blade is constitutive volatility, agreement states moving at meme speed against maintenance institutions built for committee speed. Threaded through Chs 2, 5, 5b, 5c, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12. Still open: the line between generators (consensus-tracks vs. agreement-generates), the regime translation’s two-plus-one suspicion, the volatility ratio claim, the sibling treatment’s worked cases, and engagement with the social-ontology prior art (Searle, Berger & Luckmann, Anderson, Hacking, Soros, Hirschman).
